For many paitents, there will be times that further evaluation and or treatment will require a procedure to be performed. In many cases, these can be done right in the office. Listed below are a few examples of the procedures that we do routinely in the office.
A cystoscopy procedure is where a doctor looks at the inside of the bladder and urethra (the tube that connects the bladder to the outside of the body). This is done with a cystoscope, a thin tube with a light and a lens or small video camera on the end. The tube is put in through your urethra.
There are two main types of cystoscopes: flexible and rigid. The type your doctor uses will depend on why the cystoscopy is being done.
This test can be used to look for the causes of signs or symptoms in the bladder (such as trouble urinating or blood in the urine), or to look at an abnormal area seen on an imaging test (such as a CT scan). If you have had bladder cancer, it might also be used to look for new tumors.
A Vasectomy is a simple surgical procedure that is performed in order to cause permanent sterilization for men. Valley Urology has performed more vasectomies than any other office in the central valley. At Valley Urology we typically perform the procedure as a single incision vasectomy. This typically is performed in the office for most patients. We will perform this procedure for Cash, as well, for $750 (this includes the consult and procedure).

Newborn circumcision is usually performed in the first 30 days after birth.
For newborn circumcision, your son will lie on his back with his arms and legs restrained. After the penis and surrounding area are cleansed, an anesthetic will be injected into the base of the penis or applied to the penis as a cream. A plastic ring will be attached to the penis, and the foreskin will be removed.
Afterward, the penis will be covered with an ointment, such as a topical antibiotic or petroleum jelly, and wrapped loosely with gauze. The procedure generally takes about 10-20 minutes.
Circumcision is similar for adults. While performed slightly differently, for some the procedure may also be performed in the office. However, the procedure might need to be done under general anesthesia. In addition, recovery typically will take longer, compared to newborns.
Rezum procedure is an in office procedure that can be performed in the office that can treat BPH . For men that would like to get off medications and /or medications no longer work to manage their symptoms, Rezum can be utilized. After evaluation, Rezum utilizes wator vapor to treat the enlarged prostate tissue and reopen the area, allowing one to urinate easily again. This procedure is typically done in the office and takes 20-30 minutes.
